Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne has a solution when it comes to preventing students from storming the court. He thinks punishments should go beyond the practice of simply fining schools and onto forcing home teams to take a forfeit when a court storming occurs...
quote:

“You have two kids run out there, no, but when you have a sustained rush like what just happened the other day at Wake, you lose the game,” Byrne said at the Birmingham Tip Off Club on Monday. “That will get people to stop."

“Kids aren’t going to be in the stands saying “Oh, I don’t want to do this because the school is gonna get fined $200,000,” Byrne said. “That doesn’t enter their mindset. But if they knew the game that they just had been a part of, celebrated a great win that led to that, if they knew that they were going to lose that game immediately, that would stop them.”

fricking stupid idea. You don’t take away a victory because of the behavior of fans. I dont give a frick what the bama AD thinks.

Not a stupid idea. Forfeit and fine. Make it hurt and then the foolish fans will stop when they are reversing a hard fought win.

It's amazing that women seem to survive, or should I say thrive, storming stores on Black Friday. But rushing a court in basketball is too dangerous?

Organize a couple of hundred kids, go to away games, rush court when your team loses = automatic win....

If a school were seriously compelled to stop it, they could. Just take tickets for any future sporting events away from the students who storm. Not like you don't have several minutes before the end of the game where you can get a good set of photos or video. You stop the students, you will probably stop most of these. I don't think many schools really care though. What university is going to be the first to do it and look like old men yelling at the clouds. The conference would have to be the one to implement it.

Just explaining what would work if they actually wanted to stop it. I didn't advocate for the idea. Just like saying executing people who storm the court would work. Sorry you can't grasp the difference Karen.

How about the Duke player lift a weight so his arms don’t look like toothpicks, and maybe he wouldn’t get hurt. Caitlin Clark took the hit better than he did. This idea is retarded and punishes the players that won the game on the court.

Its athletics for college students who want to have fun. Even McMann was having a blast taking selfies with students. Too much control. Let the kids have fun and if somebody gets hurt Dudley DeBosier will get some of their money back from the school. What's the big deal.
