Late Friday night the football world learned that Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb would be leaving the Crimson Tide to become the new offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. Following the move, an interesting report emerged from the Seattle Times. According to reporter Bob Condotta, Seattle waited to announce the hire of Grubb in order to let a 30-day transfer window to pass - which kicked off when Nick Saban retired...

The players want to treat this like a business and make business decisions? Well, welcome to how business operates.

I think any other school would do the same thing. If LSU OC was hired away 2 weeks after Kelly left or retired, we as fans would be ticked off because of the players hitting the portal. Agreed, it is shady. Change the portal rules so that teams can't do this kind of stuff.

Every fan of every other school would be absolutely pissed if their AD didn't do the exact same thing to keep as much talent on the roster as possible.

WOW, this is a straight bitch move & zero resepxt for the players! I’m a former coach, and with the bond you make with your players, I can’t see how a coach can do this and string his guys out. Especially A COORDINATOR! Position coach isn’t as big of a deal, it the Coordinator can come In and implement an entire new system & the player could find themselves obsolete in that system. And the coordinator pulled the rug from underneath you and now can’t transfer into a system that gives you eat chance to succeed.

Screw that coach, hope he fails miserably, what goes around comes around!

Dirtbag move, but not surprising. Sad part is I guarantee that Deboer knew the entire time but still continued to lie to players and recruits about the whole situation.

You’re consistently stupid. It was a material fact that was kept quiet from those that would rely on the info for their future.

You obviously don’t know sports nor football! Coordinators implement systems. Top players go to schools based on the “systems” they run.. and for the guy that installs that “offensive system”
To lie for 30 Days until the door shuts in the face of potential transfers, that’s a punk move & hope that guy fails miserably & Bama is low-down for allowing it to happen. With all the protection rules for players these days, This should not be ethically legal to do so. If your hired somewhere that can effect transfers, you disclose it, otherwise your playing. Games with players careeers! I would say the same thing bad it been LSU, this is a bitch move
By Bama and that coach .

Imagine being a player for Alabama right now, you lose the most structured coach in history lol, you have constant turbulence. The coach keeps bringing in guys from his previous school, he tampered with a qb who wasn’t in the portal. Etc etc etc. I’m anxious to see how this fares this year, I can see most of the players leaving. I know many made a big deal about Kelly being in Baton Rouge but as someone who works with several from Washington (Seattle specifically) Tuscaloosa might as well be a different country for those coaches moving to the armpit of America. And yes I can say that as I live in Alabama. Seattle is the definition of progressive that 95%of Americans hate and I can only imagine what the coaching staff thinks of “Roll Tide Willy” and don’t get it twisted I like the guy and he reminds me of several older men I grew up around.

CKD - "Hey Ryan, I got the job at bama want to come? Grubb - "Hell no" CKD - "well can you at least say your coming to calm people down, then after the portal closes, do what you want" - Grubb - Ok.
