Their people have been trying to uprise for years. Could this be an opportunity for them to go full speed ahead and attempt take over? Might be their best chance in some time

Secret Police jail and torture anyone for speaking against the government, women get beaten and jailed for showing skin. If a women bring a charge of rape against a man, then that women will end up in jail on a morality charge.
They are on the verge of a cultural revolution, which will probably happen in the next 5 years.

There are a good deal of Iranians in BR. They aren’t conservative in the least and have no love lost on the government there. I think they love their homeland, but not the shitbags in charge.
