It’s no mystery, people no longer like Springsteen because of his politics

That's ridiculous... He's still selling out stadiums around the world..

Seger always came off as more authentic

Which Springsteen had turned down

That seems like an excellent metaphor for the Springsteen/Seger dynamic

It’s not ridiculous. The comment was an explanation in response to the statements in this thread asking for a basis for why people on this board don’t’t like Springsteen.

Agree with this. This board is really negative on Springsteen and I don't know why.

Politics, mostly.

Springsteen is iconic but I don't listen to him much any more. I've heard him so many times that I'd rather listen to something else.

I like a couple of Segers's songs but never was a huge fan

I think Springsteen was probably a slightly better songwriter, but he couldn't write songs about his bowel movements like Seger did.

Night Moves
Like a Rock
The Fire Down Below
Shame on the Moon
Satisfied Passage
Against the Wind
No More
I'll Remember You

Springsteen couldn't write these songs.

My dad had Seger 8 tracks ...that is what i grew up on and why it is Seger for me.

I never connected with Springsteen like Seger, but as a kid of the 80s, he was a staple on MTV and never hated him.

But one thing that I really liked about Springsteen was his show on Sirius...he is a great storyteller and can make you feel like you are there with him in Jersey of old.

Seger.

I don't care for Springsteen's style or sound. I do like some of his songs when performed by others. Atlantic City by John Anderson immediately comes to mind.

Seger all day for me.
Had heard a song or two of his, but first saw him opening for KISS in Little Rock, 1976. Blew KISS away.

This board only hates on Springsteen because of his politics today.

Seger had a lot of big hits but nothing he ever produced rivals Springsteen’s body of work from “Greetings From Asbury Park NJ” to “Born In The USA” It’s not even remotely close. Born To Run is a straight up masterpiece and easily one of the Top 5 rock albums ever produced. Seger never produced an album let alone a string of albums that compares.

Plus Springsteen was a real cultural phenom that resonated with working class people across the country and still does today. I will also add Bruce in his prime played 3-4 hour shows that were simply incredible. I have seen both of them (Bruce multiple times) and Springsteen blows Seger away as a performer. Seger could never compare to The Boss in his prime as an artist or a performer.

You guys are the ones obsessed with politics. God forbid a musician voice an opinion, even though music has been a means of communication on such subjects from the beginning. L

Seger has a much much better body of work than Springsteen ever had.

Always liked them both.
I've actually bought more Springsteen music in my life than Seger's, because Springsteen didn't get as much play on our local radio. Seger was on all the time.

yeah, that's a ridiculous statement.. I get it if you happen to like Seger better... but as a whole, he wasn't a patch on Springsteen...
