Something I noticed is a little off. Sheldon and Amy's appearance takes place 5 years after TBBT's finale. The absolute oldest Sheldon's son, Leonard, could be would be around 4 years old since Amy was not pregnant or very early in the TBBT's finale. I don't know many 4 years boys that could ICE Skate much less play Hockey at the age of four-five years old.

I kind of thought that possibly takes place years in the future.

I only watched this show a few times (I liked it, but just never got into it), but oddly enough, when I saw that the finale was airing, I thought of you since you referenced it back when I posted on the PT board.

Refresh my memory, you were Leonard correct? Shelly named his firstborn after you.

Hey CC, please add the above and these emoji's

That was my take. They greyed up Parsons' temples for effect.

I was also a little disappointed they didn’t give the mom a little something more than just pouring herself into the church. Kind of a sad ending for her.

BTW: thank you so much for the bird ID app site. I spent time there as you could click a State and they went through birds in your State that come to the feeder.

Much appreciated

The Mary (Sheldon's Mom) in Young Sheldon is real life daughter of Mary (Sheldon's Mom) in The Big Bang Theory.

Without rewatching the scene, I believe her name was Valerie, but I could be wrong. It wasn't anyone that was ever shown on camera or mentioned otherwise. This was the first time that person would've come up.

Speaking of which.... 7 seasons and we never once got to see Mary's other two siblings Charlene and Stumpy ("Although if he'd listened to me about that wood chipper, we'd still be calling him Edward." - Mary BBT)

I really hope my wife doesn't get mad at me when I die and leave her because I probably didn't plan it.

There's a fine line between anger and grief. My husband died similarly to George. We know he had heart disease, but he was 57 and it was very unexpected. I was mad for a long time. That scene rang very, very true. It's a very common feeling when a death is shocking and unexpected. I think you are joking a bit. But the not having planned it is the whole point. That scene was perfect. I was cutting a lot of onions while watching.

What I was hoping for was a line or two from Parsons' character explaining to the viewer or to Amy that his regrets that he had about his lack of appreciation for his father made it easier for him to mischaracterize him to his friends that he met later in life.

He did with his acknowledgement that his dad (in retrospect) wasn't as bad as he had portrayed to his friends, but in his Sheldon way of still avoiding getting too deep into emotions. With that, we can speculate that he portrayed him in that light to his friends so that he could continue to avoid the pain of losing him (evidenced by the many conversations he wishes he had).

I lost my father in 2011 and this really pulled on my heart strings. What was the last thing he said? Where did I see him last? Was I an A-hole? What was he wearing?

It was lazy writing by Steven Molaro and the rest of Chuck Lorre's crew to fail to acknowledge that George Cooper is mischaracterized top to bottom by his "genius" kid. That wasn't just a one-time thing. Sheldon consistently portrayed him as an abusive alcoholic to anyone who didn't know the man, personally.

I'd sooner die than let everyone I've met since college think my dad was a habitual drunk piece of shite, especially if burdened with an eidetic memory where I could recall every conversation, interaction and thing that he did to provide for me and my family. (Sometimes at the cost of his own interests).

George was the reason Mary loosened up about Sheldon going to college early.

George was the reason they took to trip to Houston to straighten out the NASA astrophysicist that was trying to be dismissive of Sheldon's theories about reusable rocket housings with retrorocket navigation (later stolen by Elon Musk). Sheldon was so upset at that initial exchange that he gave himself an ulcer.

George was the one willing to make the trip from Medford to Cape Canaveral with the boys in the hopes that Sheldon could see a shuttle launch.

George was the one who gave Sheldon permission to stay overnight in his dorm room at East Texas Tech and hang with his friends.

George not only trusted Sheldon to do their taxes, he gave him a pep talk at the IRS to deal with the auditor and got the case dismissed.

George went with Sheldon to CalTech to see Stephen Hawking give a lecture... and the college visits for his grad school degree.

The list goes on.

George also had a beer in his hand and was looking for a buzz every single episode.

If your dad got buzzed every single night of your life it would leave an impression.

Especially on a person like Sheldon who remained childlike when it came to stuff like that.

I think the bigger issue was the discontinuity with MeeMaw. She drank as much as George, gambled. Her portrayal in BBT did not match YS.

I’m glad they cleared up the philandering issue, I think the message at the end of the last episode sums up that they regret making George such a terrible father in BBT.

Sorry for your loss. Yes, I was joking a bit overall. I'm sure the shock in your scenario takes you through all the range of emotions and certainly anger is one.
