I do but it’s not a trust fund. Am I the only one?

My parents very graciously helped us send our kids to Catholic Schools, but we wouldn't have gotten the cash equivalent had we sent them to public schools. They are always willing to help if we're in a bind, but we definitely don't get an 'allowance'

I knew when our 2nd was born that private schools were out of the question.

That's a great thing your folks did.

Serious question and no hate here. Is that a thing for grandparents to put kids through private school? I thought I’d heard that before.

I’ve got several neighbors with a stay at home wife and 3 kids in private school. The Dads have good jobs but I don’t know how they are pulling it off to be honest.

Again not jealous just wondering if I’m missing something…

I always chalk it up to the "missing" part. They could have come into some money....grandparents' gift.....insane debt...etc.

And to answer OP question: No and I wouldn't take it unless it was totally necessary like some sort of emergency.

They treat me to lunch a few times a year. Dinner maybe four times a year but we live in different states. Bothers my wife lol

My parents don't have shite and I'll be lucky if I don't end up having to financially support them in their later years. But for everybody who's been supported or inherited something from your parents I hope you make the most of it.

I got something more valuable than that. I was taught the value of a dollar. How to invest in my future, how to work relentlessly for the future that I want.

Most of all, that money isn't everything. God is.

Grandparents can pay tuition for grandchildren without affecting gift tax limits. Payments must be made directly from grandparents to school.

Theoretically , ones parents could give their child , who has a family of four $144,000 a year tax free.

$18k from dad to the family of 4
$18k from mom to the family of 4

At least that’s how I understand it.

No you’re not the only one. You ever heard of the gift tax. Believe it or not, many well off older people think that there is no better use for their money than helping their families. Weird I know.

I’ve got awhile until it becomes a real decision but I’ve already decided I will actively help my children financially while I am alive. Waiting until I die and they are older (hopefully) when they don’t really need the financial assistance is an antiquated approach.

I’ll do everything I can to fund their first house, get out of college debt, and fund grandkids education. Gifts can be tax efficient and people in their 20s and 30s need $50K a lot more than when they are in their 50s.

I've come to the conclusion that grandparents absolutely pay for private school here in New Orleans. Actually Metairie. Moms hop out of their 2024 Escalades in yoga clothes every morning. Mom's arse isn't going to work in that $118,000 car wearing that. She isn't supplementing $25,000 per kid wearing that, unless she does OF. Is every dad at this school making $500k?!? I highly doubt it.

No but thats the plan for my kids.

They aren't raised in wealth but they'll he given quite a bit when I pass. Probably freak them out I expect.

I plan to work until I'm 70. Years 65-70 the two kids will split my salary.

This is one of the best ways a grandparent can send their love.

The Grandparents helped us out when we were first married. We never asked for money but would randomly get gift checks. It was highly appreciated and put to good use for our family, and there were times when we were struggling to get by. Now we run a successful business and have been giving back to those same loved ones as well as others. That's a strong family unit. My passion is to achieve generational wealth for the family. When I am in hospice when I am old and weak, and know that I helped paved the way for a privileged life for both my kids and grandkids, I will die a happy man.

My grandfather was a blue collared worker who worked his arse off with a passion to never let his kids or grandchildren have to endure what he did. He helped his kids big time. Now we are taking it to the next level. I want my family to become old money.

Im in my 40s, doing great, hoping I build a nest egg so big my kids never work. I never get the people who make alot of money and want to just hold on till they die before giving it to their kids. I want mine to enjoy it while im alive. Good for your parents, all these guys saying its a bad idea are just poor
