Bama, USCe, Vandy, UF, and us.

Unless the SEC gets 11 teams in the field, we probably need to win at least 1 in Hoover.

FTR, Bama is up 12-5 on Auburn in T9.

And 3 of those other 4 beat us in a series and all have a better RPI. We still have a chance, just need to win some in Hoover and hope the others get bounced early

Right! Root for those bastards to lose and of course we gotta win. Put it this way. If any 13 & 17 club has more success in the tournament than we do, I’ll be a worried sumbich.

Who should we root for in an Alabam versus South Carolina game? I assume South Carolina since Alabam has a higher rpi. But the root word of assume is arse.

Well they all match up Tuesday

Vandy vs Florida
Alabama vs USCe

So 2 will be going home and 2 advancing either way. I think we're locked in. SEC gets 11.

Yes indeed I feel we should get 11, but I’ll be a nervous wreck because some pussy teams could win their tournaments and knock out a good 11th sec club.

LSU should always get the last game of the day in Hoover.

It’s tradition.

It’s funny how confident you are with something that’s just totally wrong

Florida and SC both played Kentucky instead of Auburn in conference play, but SC going 0-2 against Clemson was their only non-conference weekend matchup against a team in the RPI Top 150 and Florida’s loss to St John’s was their only weekend game against a team higher than #90. LSU, on the other hand, was 4-1 against RPI Top 40 teams in weekend matchups non-conference. Florida was a strong 9-9 against the top half of the conference, but 4-8 against everyone else with no Top 50 weekend wins non-conference, 3 weekend losses outside the Top 50, and 6 midweek losses. SC was 4-13 against the top of the conference plus Clemson and 7-5 against other Top 40 teams with 2 other weekend losses, and 1 midweek loss. LSU was 3-9 against the top of the conference and 10-7 against other Top 40 teams in weekend games with 3 other weekend losses and 1 midweek loss.

So, what does all that mean? Florida did the best against top competition, but worse against everyone else, including an awful midweek record. LSU had one more weekend loss to teams outside the Top 40 than SC, but had a slightly better record against top teams and the Top 40 overall than SC. LSU is 13-16 on weekends against the Top 40 with 3 other weekend losses. Florida is 13-17 with 3 other weekend losses. SC is 11-18 with 2 other weekend losses. If anything separates the 3, it’s Florida’s midweek losses. LSU may have the worst RPI of the 3, but the best overall body of work, if ever so slightly.

Actually, I should have brought Vandy into the mix too. Their conference schedule was similar to LSU’s with similar results. Like LSU, they beat ULL and Texas, but they do not have a weekend series win over a Top 40 team like LSU. They were 3-12 against the top of the conference and 6-5 against other Top 40 teams with 2 other weekend losses and 1 midweek loss. Their 9-17 record against the Top 40 is the worst of the 4 teams.

Vandy vs Florida

Vanderbilt: Very similar resume and RPI as LSU, but owns the head to head. They’ll likely get in over LSU barring LSU going on a serious run in Hoover.

Florida: Their strong SOS is keeping their RPI inflated. They also own the head to head over LSU. Winning the last 2 against UGA was huge for them, they’re no longer in danger of having a sub .500 record. They’ll likely get in over LSU with a win in Hoover but could get dicey if they lose and LSU wins.

Decision: Pull for Vandy, Florida’s overall record could keep them out if the Committee is splitting hairs.

Alabama vs USCe

Alabama: That Friday night loss still stings, even after a sweep of Ole Miss. They too own the head to head over LSU, plus their RPI is strong at 18. I don’t think they’re on the bubble, even after losing their final series against Auburn.

South Carolina: One would think that getting swept 2 weekends in a row to end the season would crush them, but their RPI actually rose 4 spots from this time last week. If they get bounced on day 1 in Hoover, they should be worried.

Decision: This one is a no brainer, pull for Alabama. Not only would is help our RPI, but also because Alabama is in no danger of missing the tournament in my opinion. If the Committee is splitting hairs, one could point to USCe losing their last 6 SEC games, and LSU going 10-5 over their last 15.
