My opinion only. Trolls not needed to post
Preface. I think JJ is great coach and I hope he stays long time

I understand we don’t know what happening Behind the scenes BUT did JJ make too many lineup changes early to mid season? Wouldn’t that take away players confidence ?
Bingham a disappointment Can’t remember 1 time Frey did anything noticeable
Why has Herring never started a game?
Why did Cam Johnson not get more innings? ( even in mid week games )
Why did it take so long to get Larson in the lineup? Didn’t he show in the fall or BP what he could do

Larson didn’t exactly set the world on fire in fall and neither did Milam

Jay has always said the last innings of a game are the most important, just as important as starting
That’s why herring is where he’s at

Frey fished till he got hurt sliding back to 1st base. Just a raw talent kid. Herring is where he is supposed to be imo. Larson couldn't hit worth a damn in fall. Some kids play better with the lights on. If Pearson wasn't so inconsistent we may of never seen Larson or Milam. Let that sink in. Too many returning players that never improved other than White defensively and Jones overall.

Frey started off good before he hurt his shoulder

I’m not at all mad at the way Herring was used this year.

Because the players he was replacing were not producing very simple

Bingham a disappointment Can’t remember 1 time Frey did anything noticeable

That is why answer 1

Why has Herring never started a game?

Jay Johnson looks at games by innings not by games. He felt Herring was best suited for keeping a lead late in games rather than starting. He knew he did not have the pitching staff he had hoped for once SEC play started.

Why did Cam Johnson not get more innings? ( even in mid week games )

Did you see him pitch? He was all over the damn place.

Why did it take so long to get Larson in the lineup? Didn’t he show in the fall or BP what he could do

Both Larson and Milam did not have great falls but this is why you tinker with the lineup early to find out who plays well "When the lights come on"

Herring never starts because if he did we would have lost all those games he saved, and we would have lost all those games he started because we would have had no one to close them.

Cam Johnson hasn't had more innings because they are watching him in bullpen sessions and he is not consistent enough. It would only damage his confidence and slow his development if CJJ put him in when he will probably fail.

The reason Larson wasn't in the lineup earlier is because he could not hit college pitching. Eventually he caught up with it, and that's when they put him in. And that's exactly how it's supposed to work.

I do agree that CJJ had a hard time managing an unusual amount of depth. The problem he had is that none of that depth really distinguished itself. He has a loot of guys who can hit 250 with 8 HRs.

Not trying to be combative, just addressing all of your points.

Bingham a disappointment
He's been servicable but terrible defensively

Frey is oozing with potential and looked good in the few starts he had before injury. He puts barrels on the ball.

I think this is a if it ain't broke don't fix it thing. I also don't think it really matters. His 70 pitches don't matter when they come, as long as they come.

Probably could have worked him in more, I agree.

Larson struggled in the fall while Brown did very well. Was also out performed by Frey. Larson slightly out performed Brown in the spring. Then he's competing for a spot with guys like Kling, Pearson, Bingham, and Jones who have all proved they can do it on the big stage.

Would have been great having him as a third starter but I truly do not think we would have won some of the games that he came out of the pen for.

I honestly think this will be the difference between making the postseason or not looking back. There were other factors obviously, but we would have won a few games early that we needed.
