I think so, but its close and I certainly wouldn't die on this mountain. As an amateur when he last used persimmon woods, he was just as long as Nicklaus in his prime. Nicklaus was a better ball striker, even with inferior equipment. Woods had a better short game and was a better putter which imo probably makes him the better player.

Eh, Tiger is probably the best irons player ever. Tiger’s only real weakness in his career was not hitting fairways off the tee.

Good analysis, but I was simply poking fun at OP’s “Tiger Wood’s” and added to it with “Nicholas”.

My personal opinion is that while NICKLAUS has the most majors, nobody ever played better golf than peak Tiger, and that’s not particularly close.

Jack was a fat smoker.

Both in their prime, Tiger doesn’t just beat him, he fricking destroys him.

Debatable. Jack not only won 18 majors he had 19 runner ups. Always hard to compare different eras, but Jack’s major performance overall beats Tiger’s.

Jack’s head and lifestyle proved to be much better for longevity. Had Tiger not mistakenly fired Butch Harmon I tho k he would have ended up with 20 majors. His ego got in his way.

Jack also did not have advanced equipment. He actually played with less tech than those he competed with.

Some people think that Jack might have won 10 more majors had he signed with Titleist instead of Mcgregor.

Jack played with some really tough competitors. The guys who played on tour in the 1960s sometimes made more money playing Monday games with local gamblers than they did in tour events.

Tiger versus Jack in their primes? Lots of majors playing out like the “duel in the sun” with each winning some, but I think Jack would prevail.

Tiger used Nike golf equipment

So you think Tiger would shut Jack down?

Hagen, Hogan, Snead, and Nelson in their prime would win their share as well.

I’m not saying “Tiger would lose to Jack every time.”

I do think IF Y.E Yang can get it done, so can Jack.

Tiger made choices that hurt his chance to win the most majors ever. At this point, I doubt he wins another major. What could have been……

End of the day, trying to make these comparisons is futile. If Tiger and Jack both came up at the same time with the same equipment, same technology, same coaching, same fitness coaching, same medical advancements, etc.. it’s impossible to know which would’ve been better. I believe GOAT types all have an intangible X factor that would’ve made them great in any era. It’s in their mental makeup… a competitive fire, a will to win that others don’t possess.

Vardon
Jones
Hogan
Nicklaus
Tiger

They all had it.
