Headed to Boston with the family this summer for a few days. Never been. Checkin out a game at Fenway for sure. Hopefully tour a brewery.

Any restaurants that I shouldn’t miss an opportunity to check out?

What area will you be in? What’s your price point? What kind of food are you hoping to try?

Boston has a ton of “can’t miss” restaurants so you’ll have to narrow it down.

It’s an ok local/regional chain. You won’t have a bad meal there, but it won’t be anything special. Hard disagree on this suggestion.

Agreed that Legal is fine at best. I really enjoyed the Sail Loft for fried seafood and thought their clam chowder was fantastic. Being right on the waterfront made for great views and people watching.

Umberto’s Pizza is a place that’s only open for lunch that I thought was a can’t miss. The square slice was incredible and the vibe was old school neighborhood joint, which is my kind of place. Regina’s is in Little Italy and also had a pretty solid pizza and was open for dinner.

Neptune Oyster was really good, although be prepared to wait because the place is really small. I still enjoyed the hell out of the lobster roll and raw oysters we had.

Trillium had my favorite beer but Harpoom Brewery was a more fun hang. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

@Seymour is right. Neptune Oyster is fantastic. I spend a couple of weeks a year there for work and always hit it a couple of times. It's a can't miss.

The pretzels at Harpoon are amazing, and it's worth sipping a decent-enough beer to experience the pretzels. Get the full ones, not the bites.

We’re in Boston now, planning on doing Freedom Trail tomorrow, really want to get a good Lobster roll while here, any good places on the trail to do that?

On the Union St. leg of the trail there is White Bull Tavern that has a fine lobsta roll. And a pretty nice bloody. Plus they are serving both by 9am if you're starting the trail early.

To be honest, not really. There’s a lot of great places to stop and have a snack or drink right along the FT, but anywhere right on the trail serving lobster rolls will be more on the touristy side of things.

Go to James Hook which isn’t too far off if that’s your only chance to grab a lobster roll. Otherwise, consider Eventide in Fenway, Saltie Girl in Back Bay, or Row 34 in Fort Point.

These are the kind of recommendations that give New England a bad culinary reputation in the south.

Don't listen to this stupid douche frick. It's right on the trai, has a great lobster roll, and is set up perfect to jump in, grab and go. If you're doing the whole trail you're not going to have time for much else. I had 7-8 different lobster rolls on our trip and it was one of the best.

Boy that escalated quickly.

It’s a fine place to stop, nothing special. And you had so many on your trip so you are the expert, my apologies. I guess living here 11 years is secondary to that.

It's right on the trail, easy to get in and out of and has a fine lobster roll.

How many of those 11 years were you and unfamiliar tourist trying to cram in the Freedom Trail and grab a lobster roll? You pretentious frick.

And that’s ok. But it won’t be anything special and I was trying to steer the poster toward other options.

Probably my first six months I was unfamiliar with the city, which I’m guessing is longer than you have spent here. I spent a lot of time walking around downtown in my first year because I lived downtown. Hell, I worked very close to White Bull Tavern. And it was a place to go for a drink after work, no more no less.

And if you’re counting how many times I’ve hosted friends and family and done the freedom trail with them, I’d say a couple dozen times easily.

You sure are angry.

And yet you didn't recommend any. Where, on the trail, should one bail off and grab a lobster roll?

Cool. Where did you tell them to grab lobster rolls on the trail? Oh yea, you didnt. Matter of fact you don't have a single rec in this thread about Boston recs. You just shite on everyone elses like a pretentious fig. All hail king Abita the 11 year veteran of Boston!

I recommended 3? Two far off the trail, one within a reasonable walk off the trail.

Again, I gave three recommendations. I have disagreed with two. But if you, the OP, or anyone else would like recommendations, feel free to take a look here and by all means, take the recommendations or don’t.

Please, no. I’m just a man. I put my pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of you. Only once my pants are on, I know more about Boston restaurants than you.
