Haven’t been down this way since early August, and it was down in Grand Isle. Thinking about hitting up GM this weekend to see what I can do. Any bait shops open down there? Also any kind of obstructions from recovery efforts down there that I should be aware of? I feel guilty sometimes going fishing down there after a storm, because people are trying to rebuild their lives, and I’m going down there just to catch some fish. Would definitely love to spend my money at a local bait shop or someplace though, so that I can help out those people in some kind of way.

I’ve heard of people fishing in Fourchon but I don’t know if I want to go down there. I’ll be bank fishing, so I don’t want to get in the way of recovery efforts. Thanks.

its a FB link (i know ) but its a good report on golden meadow public launch conditions as well as parking lot issues

LINK

lots of small dinks to pick through and plenty of white trout but you can bring home a decent box with about 15 specks and a limit of reds

FYI - PSA on golden meadow public launch
the parking lot is being used as a staging area for large piles of gravel as well as huge pile of all the electrical wires that were picked up off the side of the roads.
only the very first row of parking can be used by fishermen to park at and it looks like max capacity is only about 15-20 trucks max.
after that, you will have to park somewhere else besides the launch parking lot.
so if you plan to go there expect little to no parking space

Good info. Thanks. I’m planning on going to the public launch to fish, so good to know about the parking situation over there

i just went there today, it was disappointing they took the whole damn launch parking lot instead of using the park to store all that stuff. giant gravel pile 30ft high and the pile of wire is just as big plus all the trucks and equipt there make it hard to still use the launch. if you go go early or parking gets iffy

This was a week ago, and it seems that the launch is pretty inaccessible right now. May have to try someplace else.

someone i spoke to was trying to get them to re-organize what they are doing to open up more parking

I went a while back, before the gravel and such was there apparently. Goo's should be open as I talked to the owner and he was getting things in order to open with bait (was anticipating only minnows and no shrimp).

Good luck, cant wait to get back down there myself. Didnt run across any obstructions in the water but the lay of the marsh sure has changed.

the post is from 10 days ago but the pictures were only added last thursday

its very limited parking but the launch is in good working order with just one pier broken and missing but its perfectly usable without issue.

the only issue is, as the post states, after the first 20 trucks park there is no parking spaces left so its a long walk to park somewhere else

Went a couple weeks ago and passed by last Friday, still the same. Limited parking for trucks and trailers get there early. Bait shop is open and had live minnows and frozen shrimp.
