A5 is garbage compared to a Browning Gold.

Maybe. But I shot the hell out of one in my youth and it was absolutely reliable. And because I was a crummy shot my shoulder took a beating. I just think many people had 2 3/4 chambered for lead shot and that was the demise when we had to go to steel shot. I'm sure the A5 shoots 2 3/4 steel shot fine. They are heavy compared to modern shotguns. don't know anything about a Browning Gold. I moved to Benelli and Beretta.

I'm honestly at a loss for words on this one. One was made for almost 100 years and still gets carried to the woods every duck season. The other was made for less than 15 years and was known for having to be kept very clean to cycle and the 3.5' models were well known for having cycling issues and they swing like a fencepost. However I will add that I absolutely loved the Gold 20's

Hmmm, thar makes me want to pull my pawpaw's out and check it, because it kicks like a mule. Beautiful gun. Never hunt with it anymore, but not really for any specific reason. 1958 light 12.

Also have my GGF's 1927 Model 12 20 gauge. Would be alot prettier if the butt hadn't been sawn off years ago to fit my uncle when he was a kid.

Hey man. Just found the original manual that came with my Grandfathers browning. Like others said before, they don't like too much oil. I always have used hoppes #9 in the bore and outside of the gun and wd40 in the action, wd40 keeps it running good into the single digit temps. Also, don't dry fire it, the firing pin might go flying out onto the ceiling.. Here's the photos of the manual.
