Been done before. More on the way.

I'm wondering if the Mayor-President jurisdiction will now be dissolved seeing as their is no need for this if the parish has it's own mayors and can govern as they see fit.

Which is another reason why BR did everything they could to stop SG from taking power away from the incompetent bureacrats.

Funny part has been that the NAACP has been fighting to do this very thing for years, likely under the belief that blacks having full control of BR would be better than the rest of the parish voting for the mayor-president.

That happens and I bet the lines for EBR metro council districts get interesting.

Sandy Springs is the OG St. George.

Buckhead was talking about it a couple of years ago.

Agendas on the Right and the Left are both tweaking the facts to make it fit their personal agendas. Look at all the headlines that say SG "seceded", Broke away" "Carved Out", "Mostly white" BS in both their narratives

More areas around crap cities should separate. It's been shown over and over that whatever promises the city make to fix problems they never do.

Scotlandville did it years ago. Read the St George Ledger newspaper and you will get all the facts why it is legal , reasonable, desirable and financially sound. You will also get to review the total BS spewed by SWB and her ilk.

There's probably a neighborhood somewhere in Jackson, MS that's keeping an eye on it.

Different issue, but a while back there was talk of parts of Oregon joining Idaho. Not sure how that would work.

Sandy Springs didn’t have the messy funding issues BR/SG did though.

Legislation got shot down in the state Senate, and the guy pushing it was a grift-machine that left the Atlanta area shortly after. It was a farce.

Yes, even there. I see conservative Youtubers still saying this was a secession because they're pushing for it in their areas. Nothing wrong with those secession efforts, but we didn't do that, and even when you correct them they don't change their portrayal of SG.

Praireville was an easy move for many forks in the late 80’s early 90’s. No need for incorp, break away, law suits or whatever and close enough for a short commute.

The white flight vibe is the one I've gotten. I do know a handful of people who had been pushing the St George thing for a while who at least partially look at it like that. This may be fricked up but I hope it becomes a racial issue. I'm so tired of whites being demonized no matter what they do. Black America has been pushing for it for ages, segregating themselves in universities and businesses, getting preferential treatment and government assistance before other communities, etc... this might be the best thing to maybe bring them back to earth a bit. If it were about race, it would send a pretty powerful message.

I don't think we can have a wholly racially integrated America anymore. Not all blacks, but many of them just get away with blaming white people and demonizing / bullying them in the media, it's probably time white America goes its own way even if it's in little pockets like this. It's supposedly what black America wants, but let's see if they still want it when the white guilt gravy train goes away.

The problem is thar lakeview doesn’t have near the business/tax base that St. George does. Without giant sales tax revenues, lakeview residents would be paying a zillion dollars in property taxes.

This.

Kind of like FUBU and HBCUs. Always a racial slant to things.

Maybe BR and SG will be Twin Cities.

Except one twin is educated and employed, and the other is a criminal with no money.
