Does it also have arm side run like a change up? I could only watch on gamecast so I couldn’t actually see the pitches, but it seemed like every time he missed with it it was arm side.

He could throw a curve. He just learned to throw curves after his arm more fully developed after high school. That's one reason he lasted so long. He took care of his arm and worked it out with bands a lot as he got older. A lot of the pitchers back in the day took the same approach which was why they could pitch so long (steroids for some aside).
That's what I was saying earlier in the thread. Coaches these days teach young pitchers curves etc too early and it can screw up their arms in the long term.

I highly doubt Pittsburgh lets his pitch count get above 100 very often this year in general. The Pirates aren’t contending, why blow out his or Jared Jones arm this year?

The movement on that sinker was crazy and then when you see that it was coming in at 96 made it even crazier.
I know it’s early but that was Mo Rivera level nastiness where he basically could tell everyone it was coming and there wouldn’t be much you can do about it.
Also my non scientific opinion is that Skenes is just built right to throw 100mph. He basically is built like an NFL tightend. 6’6” 250 with thick legs.

I understand the desire to let him see it through and get a no hitter.
But it was a smart play by the Pirates. If you don’t understand why, I don’t think any one here can help you.
