I have given thought to this round tho. I have a SBR 12" 308 large frame that I could pop a shawty 8.6 upper on but im waiting to see if the round sticks around. Not sure if my SiCo hybrid would work for it tho.

If you reload and the modification is as easy as the .223 to .300blk then I would not worry about availability.
.223 to .300 blk is just chopping at the shoulder, resizing and then trimming.
