One of the coolest things I have seen, was at The B.F. Goodrich plant In Tuscaloosa.
They had these prototype rear wheel/tires on the golf carts and buggies that their maintenance guys and security used.
They were a hard rubber tire on a hard rubber rim with flexible spokes.
The rim and tire would squat on the bottom like it was going flat and increase the footprint for traction, almost like having a small track. The maintenance guys loved them.
I don't know if these have ever been made available to the public, I haven't seen anybody with them yet.

Like this? Similar to the ones used on lawn mowers.
