Constantly for me is once a week, not daily.

To the job on Monday and to the house on Friday.

When I pull the trailer, I get about 10-11 mpg

I reset the mpg regularly to see if it changes.

Have you asked the dealer about it?

I don't do any math on mpg when I'm towing. I know it will go to shite if I'm pulling a load.

Only a salesman.

They give the bullshite response.

Change out your filters on every oil change (air and fuel), only drive 70 mph, don't accelerate too fast, etc.

I only ask because every 250 guy on this board claims to get over 20mpg (which is a lie), but I'm hoping to find a sliver of truth thru the bullshite fishing/poker stories.

I had a 19 F-250 and averaged 14mpg. Now have a 22 Ram 2500 and average 17mpg. I know there are tuners for a Ram that does not involve removing emissions so that in states that require testing the vehicle still passes. From reviews I’ve read there are good power and fuel mileage gains. Not sure if they’re available for an F-250 but I would assume they are. Look up emissions compliant and emissions intact tunes.

Mine gets about 14.5 and I’m fine with that. I didn’t buy my f-250 for fuel savings though. I love the Powerstroke and it’s a great truck. The 6.7 is much improved from the older 6.0 Powerstroke.

That’s just not true, I get 15.5 and always have. As illustrated in my first hand experience in this thread. Although I do hear of some 20+ stories and I immediately think that person is a liar.

And believe me, it's much appreciated.

I can get this truck modified, new exhaust, etc,

But I can't go without it for a week or so.

I guess I could get a rental if it really came down to it, only because usually when I need to tow something big, it's short notice and only a couple of miles. (Big meaning my forklift or someone's backhoe to a job)

But paying 4 grand for a delete kit, new exhaust and a programmer/tuner seems stupid to only get 3-4 more mpg.

So you're saying I should get a dodge. .

How does it tow?

How much have you towed with it? (Lbs, not frequency)

I know, I was just being a smartass to the general OT posters.

Your opinions thus far have been appreciated greatly. If I was in your hometown, I'd buy you a drink.

You won’t get more mpg from a delete and tune, at least I didn’t. “Just more power” (Tim the tool man Taylor voice)

What rear end do you have? Mine has 3:73 and while I get better than you, I don’t get much better. 13city and about 15/16 highway. That’s a tuned/deleted 2012 with heavy arse 35” MTs. The 6.7 my dad has does better mileage but his has a 3:55 rear end.

ETA: I didn’t really see any mpg gains with the tune/delete either.

That's the worst news I've read in a while.

I was hoping that there was a specific brand of tuner for under $500 that could help me get at least 2-4 more mpg.

But it sounds like all I would be getting is a better 0-60 and more uphill towing power.

I dunno, but my wife likes it.

I really don't know. Is there a couple of different ones on a stock 250 super duty 4x4? (Besides the ones you mentioned)

If there was something simple I could do to get this, I'd be happier.

I have to have a diesel for towing at this point in my career and paying $300-500 a week in fuel is gut wrenching.

My 2012 6.7 is deleted and tuned. Averages 17 mpg non towing and 10-11 mpg towing my 9k lb camper.

I had a 2012 that got around 17mpg. Then a 2015 that never seemed to crack 15mpg. 2018 that was typically a 16-17mpg truck. 2020 was a consistent 17+mpg average. 2022 dually that got around 15mpg. The new trucks with the newer turbos, 10spd and 3.31 gear seem to get a bit better mileage. 2015-2016 seemed to be a low point for mileage after they bumped the power from the previous models.

Neighbors new dodge is exceptional.

Like.i said earlier. Pulled his 5th wheeler to Colorado and back and averaged 14.5 mags
